let's say I have  {Counterbalance} On the field. My opponent cast random spell. Can I then  {Brainstorm} And set the card to make sure I am able to counter their spell?

So, whenever an opponent casts a spell, {counterbalance} will trigger. In response to this trigger, (before it resolves) you can reorder the top of your library with {sensei's divining top} or brainstorm.

Nice forgot about the top. May have to make a deck. Not a lot of enchantment hate where I play.

{Counterbalance} Still happens, but you don't have an opportunity to cast anything or top... If you happen to have a 3cmc card on top, grip still gets countered.

That's because counterbalance is a triggered ability... Split second doesn't affect that

That's because counterbalance is a triggered ability... Split second doesn't affect that

Yep. You can hope to play against someone who doesn't know that and just allows the grip to kill their counterbalance but I wouldn't count on that.
