The black and blue commander decks are just sad face.
what u mean black is good?

No. That it's bad.
I don't think you can tell him that that is bad without a reason. He honestly thinks it is good. I don't think it is awful. Why is it bad?

There was some confusion. The term "sad face" indicating something is bad. He finished his question with a question mark, prompting me to clarify what "sad face" means.

Anyone who knows me, knows I won't shy away from expressing my opinion. I think {Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath} is the worst Commander in the set, indubitably, and I don't see any cards that are like "wow there is nothing like that". There were also some more obvious cards that should be included.

Overall I think mono colored Commander decks were a mistake. The blue contains no synergy and not a very useful Commander archetype. The black deck has synergies, but it's just Zombies again. It's sort of played out, and better as Dimir, with better cards (which {Ghoulcaller Gisa} probably slotting into most {Grimgrin Corpse-Born} decks).

I feel like $30 or whatever they cost, could be better spent on last year's Commander product. Or cards to build your own deck with. Besides {Containment Priest} and {Dualcaster Mage}, and some other cards (which are in the red and white decks) are worth building around. As far as Blue and Black, I'd just stick to getting the 1 or 2 singles you need for another deck.

I see what you are saying. The white and red ones are much better in construction and quality of cards. However I already have a mono white Odric commander deck, someone in my playgroup plays Elf tribal and the blue one is kinda bad. Thus see the Black one as the most potential. Add Coffers and some other mana doublers and some tutors and you have a pretty mean Black goodstuff list. I personally don't know if I'll keep Ob Nixilis. I've played around with Drana and she's pretty powerful. So I don't know. I think the blue one was trying to make it not the best one by making it a counter-draw god-deck. They were trying to make it a new strategy with blue. Maybe I could go with red for pure value and a strange new strategy. But I think black is my best bet. I guess that's just me.

The red one is actually really good.  And if you can get that emblem, holy crap!

i feel like the emblem isnt even that great. but -2ing a {mind stone} into a {wurmcoil engine} or {darksteel forge} is really sweet. then throw a {liquimetal coating} on deretti with a {clock of omens} for a hard to kill commander.

Kinda lame that r/w are dominating in popularity, just like grixis and esper.

Game stores by me are all doing commander tournaments: but it's default commander 2014... So you have buy a terrible deck or spend extra to get a wanted deck.

Very poorly executed. These decks should ALL have a legacy/modern staple in them to equalize demand and they should be vigorously tested so that each deck can play well on its own. I feel they accelerated the commander 2014 product without considering balance.

I bought the green one with very little knowledge of what was inside. I was happy to find it was an elf tribal deck that seems to outperform the other decks fairly easily. After only making 10 swap outs the deck has only lost two of the seven games I've played. The blue deck just seems sad though

Blue is like the retarded cousin that you let sit at the kiddie table at thanksgiving
Hmm, we must be doing it wrong.. We let him sit with us at Thanksgiving. :/

The precons are all cheaper then actually building a commander deck. Like .30c per card is cheaper then you could build it for. However, most of it is bulk, or cards you wouldn't purchase. The tri-color decks are good fo pure expansion purposes. Even dual colored decks have much flexibility. Mono-color decks that don't even have {Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx} in them, wonky themes and not super powerful cards in them is just bad.

I think a mono-colored product should really reward you for playing one color. Give you something that multi-color decks cannot easily access. Like triple  mana costs, quadruple single mana costs. Something to be like "yeah, this is it". Instead you get a mono-color deck that you have to breakdown right away and add another color.

The red and white decks at least expanded on a strong mono-color theme AND added cards to strengthen the newer archetypes they're pushing. Who here wanted more cards for their mono-blue, artifact ramp, stompy deck that doesn't have any cheaty cards in it? It's nonsense

Hopefully target mislabels them again and we can purchase for $10 in a few weeks
