Splice and copy

Just crossed my mind looking up cards.  If I were to cast {Lava Spike}, then splice {Desperate Ritual} onto it.  Would I get a "free" desperate ritual if I were to copy the lava spike with say {howl of the horde}?

Splice was a bit before my time, but I'm pretty certain that yes, copies of cards with something spliced on them also have the splice. Splice works by adding the text box of the splice card to the text box of the card it's splicing onto, so I can't think of a reason why the copy wouldn't have it.

Howl of the horde will create... What? A delayed trigger to copy the spell, I think? Will you have the chance to respond to whatever that is and splice something on before it gets copied?

I think {reverberate} or {twincast} would have been a better example, but I'm curious how howl works with this.

Ah, I found a ruling and answered my question.

9/20/2014   Howl of the Horde creates a delayed triggered ability that triggers when you cast your next instant or sorcery spell that turn. The raid ability creates a second, identical delayed triggered ability. Each of these will create a single copy of the next instant or sorcery spell you cast during that turn. If you don't cast another instant or sorcery spell during that turn, both delayed triggered abilities will cease to exist.

But "as you cast" is when you choose modes right? So before the spell is actually cast or put on the stack and the triggers do the copying?
So you can actually get the splice copied?

Very true, sorry for the confusion, howl was the first "copy" card that came to my head.
