Commander

I don't normally hate on particular Commanders, but I'm wary when I see a few specific ones. Any Elf, Goblin or Sliver deck I pay close attention to, and anyone else in the game who happens to also be playing {Kaalia of the Vast}.

I have this weird thing where Kaalia is always the first one to die if I can do anything about it....

A few people were like that when they first played against me, but my Kaalia deck takes a while to take off, and I don't immediately start utilising her till I can protect her somehow. A {Kozilek, Butcher of Truth} Commander player I know once annihilated me (LOL!) in a multiplayer game, but once I explained how I use my deck, he found that the opposing decks (Elf tribal and mono-blue artifact shenanigans) were a much more immediate threat.

Main reason I think people hate Kaalia is cause her + {Master of Cruelties} is a thing. I hate that combo.

I actually pulled that off recently, people may hate you for it but it feels epic when you pull it off

On another note, highly recommend  {Kaalia of the Vast} as a commander,  {Ghave, Guru of Spores} and  {Marath, Will of the Wild} are also fun decks to play

You should play whatever commander you want to if you have fun with it. There are a lot of people out there who will whine and complain because they lose to certain generals like these a lot, but they can get over it! If the generals were that degenerate or unbeatable they'd be on the ban list.

To reiterate, that list is from MTGS top played commanders. Nothing to do with their brokenness or powerfulness (although that may be the reason they're played so often)

I'm surprised Damia is on that list, though. I've never seen a Damia deck in person, as much as I like her. And a couple of them (Ghave, Mimeoplasm), used to be really popular, but seem pretty rare nowadays

For the record I play Oloro, I think it's kind of overpowered. I wish Wizards would not design cards for Commander, instead let it be organic. But whatever...

If you look at the list it is almost all Commander product commanders, because they design the most obviously powerful Legendary Creatures ever and limit creativity.

TL; DR Make a {Lord of Tresserhorn} deck.

I like that wizards makes cards for commander, because we get access to more generals in certain color combinations. However Indo wish they would make such stupidly over-powered generals. The main thing I have a problem with is abilities that reference the command zone such as derevi's stupid "put me onto the battlefield" ability and oloros life gain crap :p
