Hello all

My friend and I couldn't quite figure this out last night. I had a {thunderblust} on the field, it died, came back with a -1/-1 counter, which also gives it trample. I play {melira, sylvok outcast} which should take the counter off and start the immortal thunderblust thing. He debates and said it wont come off bc it happened before. So he pinged it and my thunderblust died bc it had the counter on it. What would be the ruling there? Does thunderblust's counter get removed bc of Meliras appearance? Or does it stay on because it happened before.

I'm no pro, but I'd say that the -1/-1 counter would stay on, because melira only prevents them from getting placed on it, and since that already happened before she was summoned the creature would keep it's -1/-1.

Rulings on Meleria state that counters already on creatures before Meleria hits the BF will not be removed.  Your friend was right.

Ok thanks. Didn't change the game but I thought it was an interesting concept and I built this deck around it. So I either need to get melira out quicker or tutor to find her.

{birthing pod} can help with that

BlackJester

Or {Green Sun's Zenith}.  Actually, there are a number of ways to find a green creature.

{worldly tutor}....go with green suns if you can 👍

BlackJester

We had a list in General of cards that can fetch green creatures. I bet you could find it with a search for {Worldly Tutor}.
