Peeks are instant speed, so not necessarily worse than G-Probe.

Edit: some Delver lists are also running {Young Pyromancer} and {Edric, Spymaster of Trest}, could be worth considering, although labd base would a little shaky because you are on a budget.

Ninja bear delver has been a teir one deck in pauper for a really long time. I have it built and hate the deck. It's too easy to shut down and dies to creature decks cause it has no removal.
But in legacy where there is few creature decks this deck could blossom cause it's great in counter wars.
