Question on nicol bolas rarity

Ok so I was looking for a {nicol bolas} today at my lgs in their rare binder. I get into a conversation with the owner about the commander deck I'm building and that I need bolas. He says that bolas wouldn't be in his rare binder but to check the multicolored common box because bolas was printed as a common. So my question is was he printed at a rare or common? I know in this app he is listed as a rare

It is probably because they didn't start all that gold label rare stuff untill after he was printed. Not sure though.

It probably because reprinted in cronicals, and in a couple other sets I think.  I have a legends copy on my trade list.........FYI.

He's rare in all printings except Timeshifted. If you find an old one in a common pile, it's worth a couple bucks depending on the set. I'd get it if I were you.

Like I was saying, the only "non-rare" version is the Special printing from time spiral. And even that is pretty rare. And by that I mean infrequent.

Just realized that I don't have him in my trade binder yet!  Duh!  Lol.  I think I have a cronicals version though.
