Is the "Source" of said damage from a creature or the player themselves?

Like "half all damage from a source"?

It's usually the creature, but could you link an example? It usually says
  • deals [y] damage....

X is the source if it's noncombat damage worded like that. If it's combat damage it's just the creature.

My friend has a red/white angel (legendary creature). And it doubles his dmg from a source and halves my dmg from a source. He states that the source is the player, so ALL his dmg is doubled and ALL my dmg is halved.

Close, gisela would double the damage of every spell and creature he controls and half the damage of every spell and creature he doesn't. So while his reasoning is wrong the conclusion is pretty close

Almost, but Gisela looks at what is being dealt damage to determine if it doubles or halves.  If you control Gisela and your opponent taps a City of Brass, the City will deal them 2 damage.

I know which card you meant and most experienced players have come acrossed this card, but this part of the forum is where players start from and card linking is appreciated. Thank you for your ruling
