So my friend and I were planning on splitting a box for $110-$120 (total, not each), but with the spoilers I've seen so far it seems like a set that Id want to open a full box of. I'm 14, and will have $210 on Wednesday. I live in the Chicago area and plan on going to the GP for side events on the 20th-22nd, and have no real source of income up until then. I was wondering if any of you have gone to a GP for only side events before and how much you ended up spending. I just want to make sure that I won't end up needing a lot of money for events at the GP and regret not splitting a box with my friend.

First thing: you don't open a box of conspiracy, you draft it ;)

And then you make a cube with it, and draft it some more.

Actually my playgroup made a rule that no one opens conspiracy they draft it. And we were gonna try to make a cube as well

Of I were you I'd just buy singles that you need. GPs can be expensive bc you wanna play the events but they are (or can be) pricey but the fee includes packs :P

Can someone explain to me how gp side events work? I thought they were like normal drafts where you have to buy your packs to join, but now I'm confused.

You go up to the front desk, and sign up for the event (give your DCI, name, pay, ect.) and when the event starts they will call everyone together over the loudspeaker.

So for every side event, draft, etc, you have to sign up at the front desk? Cool. How much are they normally if you've signed up for the main gp?

Side events usually are people who aren't doing the main event or have dropped already, perhaps you have byes

How they are usually done is you sign up for a pod. When the pod is full everyone is notified by a buzzer device, they gather and then play.

I'm going to see if I can get into a side event on mid Sunday. I have to work Saturday and wife had triathlon on sun morning

The sales at small gps and opens and side events are great and you don't have to drop $40 on the main event to do them. You just sign up and pay your fee and you're off!
