So I have a friend who has a green mana ramp deck where he can get out a very powerful {dungrove elder} with a {sword of war and peace} attached by like, turn four. Now that makes me rage pretty hard and i've been thinking of ways to get around this and I came across {Phyrexian revoker} and was wondering if it could bypass the hexproof since it doesn't target the creature itself but the card. Also, any other good standard ways to bypass hexproof?

BadLuckIrish

Yes it would work on te Dungrove howver the Tree has no activated abilities.

Nobbert

Wait what explain yourself.

BadLuckIrish

{Dungrove Elder} has hexproof which is a static ability. Its power and toughness ability is also static. Trigger abilities happen when something in the game causes it to work. Activated abilities require a cost: like paying mana, tapping, paying mana and tapping, or saccing a creature. For example {Grimgrin, Corpse-Born} saccing a creature is a activated ability. "When it attacks" is a triggered ability

Nobbert

Ahhh okay. Well then I can use it to slow down his mana ramping birds and Llanowars right?  What about primeval Titans?

Nobbert

Also, {predator ooze}'s counter abilities, will it get rid of those?

yes to the birds and the elf. Titan no. When he enters the BF and attacka it triggers and he gets 2 lands

No. Usually if the ability says "Whenever" its usually triggered

Not dumb. I never understood till Jester taught me. Just remember lifelink trample deathtouch etc etc are static. Whenever this happens this happens is triggered. And activated costs something (and are instant speed^^ unless it says otherwise)

Nobbert

And that's why my deathtouch can still get a hexproof. It is static by activated. Yay!  Thanks.

BlackJester

you could get them to sacrifice it, a la {Geth's Verdict}.
