Ok. I'm trying to get my patron status. Went to sign up with pay pal and they want credit/debit card info AND bank account info... Totally freaked me out. I definitely don't want to link all my info to it. Is this the only way you can set up an account?

All I did was punch in my debit card number. Although I started selling a few things on Ebay, so I added my bank account to have the funds transferred for use on my debit card.

Pretty sure you have to link to a bank account otherwise could attach to a prepay cc and default, no SSN to track you with on CC and then no credit mark or debt collection

I'm only saying this to ease any worry you have, butch, but Paypal is one of the most securest sites in the world. You're totally safe giving then your details.

Just informing you, you don't have to give bank account info.  I've paid for patron and several dozens of products from whitedrake all sending the money directly from my debit card.  You just can't add money to your account without linking the bank account.

PayPal is a bank, at least in Europe. It is regulated by the same financial regulations as any other bank.

Not that it makes it any more secure, just stating a fact
