Ætherling question

If I attack with kalonian hydra for first time so 8/8 and am blocked by ætherling and he pumps his toughness to 8 but then exiles does the trample damage take place since damage has not been dealt yet or does the 8 toughness block the damage?

If the blocking creature is not there, it cannot absorb any damage before being trampled over. It either hangs around and takes the 8 (better to make it bigger than what it needs to be like 9 or something) or its no there to have damage assigned to it.

Here's the rule if you're curious

702.19c: If an attacking creature with trample is blocked, but there are no creatures blocking it when damage is assigned, all its damage is assigned to the player or planeswalker it's attacking.
