FUTURE SIGHT CARDS ARE DEPICTIONS OF POSSIBLE FUTURES, NOT ALL OF THEM WILL COME TO PASS.

{Nessian Courser} was printed without full art. Just because back then they thought that in the future we would have cards we could cast without paying the mana cost doesn't mean we will get a new {Force of Will}, that will NEVER HAPPEN. MaRo HATES {Force of Will} and it is way too powerful. In addition, didn't {Nix} find its purpose in Mirrodin with Phyrexian Mana one-drops?

I disagree about FoW being way too powerful. As long as there are decks that can win on turn one on the play, FoW is absolutely necessary to exist. Plus it comes at a steep cost. 2 cards and 1 life is nothing to sniff at.

{Force of Will} stops degenerate combos mostly in Legacy and Vintage. They don't want it in modern, where they can just ban cards that do that. Modern is also a newer format that specifically does not have great counterspells, or even {Counterspell} (which also is extremely unlike to be reprinted).

As MaRo always replies, "countering without paying mana is always too powerful" and I agree. A normal counterspell at the very least requires you to keep mana untapped at all times where as {Force of Will} just requires you to have 2 cards in hand.

I will repeat myself here... If I can lose the game before I get to play a land (on my turn 0), then I absolutely need to have something available to me that can stop it. The fact that there is only 1 card in the game that can do it is a problem to me.

I think {mental misstep} shouldn't be banned in modern.
No, it would just lead to pretty much every deck running 4 to deal with everyone else's 4, which was the issue in legacy.

As for  {Force of Will} in modern, there isn't much point in them putting it in the modern pool because it's worse than existing options in the format. The sole reason it's good is because it can stop you from dying to turn 1/all in combo, which doesn't even exist in modern.

It's awful to use as a counterspell in a situation where you're not going to die because you 2 for 1 yourself. Not to mention you have to run a critical mass of blue cards to make the alternative cost relevant.

I don't think force of will will ever be reprinted.

They had the perfect opportunity to do it in FtV:20 and they didn't.

Could you imagine FoW and JTMS in one box?? That would be ridiculous.

Dudecore

I could see them reprinting it. Just too much awesomeness in one box was going to be a problem. But maybe a Commander's Arsenal thing could do {Force of Will}, or maybe {Mana Drain} (which would make more sense in a commander product).

Any reprint is possible, as long as it is not Modern legal.

Falcon182

The commander products are way too limited. It wouldn't make an impact on available cards I don't think.

Agrus Kos, Enforcer of Truth

{Force of Will} non standard/modern legal reprints such as From the Vault or Commander, sure, definitely a possibility.

A {Force of Will} in a standard legal block such as Journey to Nix-not going to happen. Its probably a 9.9 on the Storm Scale.

Pirate John

Never again reprinting {force of will} in Standard. Just as broken as phyrexian mana

Not really, it's alternate mana cost is terrible if you're playing against any fair deck, which is every deck in standard.

{Cancel} is better in standard in pretty much every case. You'd run it in control, but it doesn't even do anything degenerate like {Mental Misstep} because it forces you to run a critical mass of blue cards for the alternative cost to be live.

Summary: it's alternate cost is card disadvantage, and the cards that are worth that aren't really in the standard card pool.
