If my opponent has prison term in play enchanting auger of bolas and. Cast restoration angel.  Does restoration angels effect or prison terms effect resolve first.  Or does restoration angels effect make prison term have an illegal target.

Not necessarily.

If it is your turn then the prison term will be able to shift to te angel.

If it is their turn then the prison term will be placed in the graveyard as a statebased action.

APNAP is the reason why. Active player refers to who's turn it is. If it is their turn then your resto flicker will resolve first since the active player placed their prison trigger on the stack first since both actions were triggered by the same even (creature entering play). At the point of the flicker the prison is detached and will be place in the yard as a state-based action since state-base is checked before and after each cast and resolution.

That was my thought.  The argument for otherwise was that although it was his turn I was still the active player because resto Angel hits the board at instant speed.  It was just a friendly game so we flipped a coin. 😉
