Can we get a Ban on...

The mikaeus/triskellion combo? It's much more stupid then half of the things on the EDH official banned list...

{Triskelion}
{Mikaeus, the Lunarch}

Gorzo

Unlikely. The high mana cost and ease-of-disruption of the combo makes it 'just another infinite combo' in the mix. If it's too prevalent in your play group, just load up on spot-removal, like {Swords to Plowshares}, {Path to Exile}, {Terminate}, yadda yadda to remove one piece of the combo before they can play the other.

Arzair

I agree with Gorzo.  Personally, I am not a fan of "infinite combos"

I do however love great synergy.

As far as the ban list goes, until something is so obviously "broken" or being abused by almost everyone running the color(s) it will probably remain viable (legal) in EDH.

I was however grateful for the ban on (trade secrets) and (painters servant)

Wsuryanjeska

See I feel like this combo should have been banned long before {trade secrets}.

In EDH it is no problem pulling out 2 six mana creatures (let's not forget that {tooth and nail} IS a card).

It's not hard for someone to simply wait for most of the players in the game to be tapped out to then pull this combo off. It's gotten to the point where every single black EDH deck should run this combo, because they have access to tutors to make it happen easily. Maybe it's just the overly competitive side of me talking, but one of the things I love most about MTG is that nothing comes easy. You often have to really work for your wins. With stupid 2 card combos like this, there is no working for anything. You just played 2 cards, and what came before really didn't matter much at all.

I just don't like it. Maybe if it was a combo that required more colors to pull off, it would be a bit more acceptable. But the fact that it is in the color that has plenty of tutors to pull it off with? Not okay in my book. Some of the cards on that EDH banned list should not be there before a stupid 2-card 1 color combo like this one.

thing is with that combo, which one do you ban? Seperatly, they're both relatively harmless. Neither of them is anywhere near being a {painters servant}

Wsuryanjeska

That's simple. Triskellion. It isn't used for anything aside from this stupid insta-win combo. Mikaeus could still be played as a general :p

Instead of becoming too concerned about the combination of interactions behind this particular pair of cards, think of a solution.

Keeping things simple here are some solutions; beyond declaring a 'need to banhammer':

1. Understand their 'combo'
2. ( *)
3. Disrupt their combo
4. Profit

(*) - this second step is 100% based on personal preference and card choices available to disrupt their combo.
             1. Instant speed removal.
              2. Counterspells
               3. Possible personal protection

Remember that good deck building can lead to victory over almost all odds (even KotV!)

:)

Caininite

Forget tooth and nail.  {Defense of the Heart} on turn 4 if they have a fast deck.

Thank you for enlightening me so heavily on the game of Magic The Gathering! *cough*sarcasm*cough*

Yeah seriously {defense of the heart} makes it even more stupid! Like I said before, there are plenty of instances where everyone will be tapped out, that's just how the game works. And the fact that someone can instantly win with only two cards (in one color) at that point, is just stupid to me. It does nothing but make the game zero fun for anyone, so why keep it around?

AdamS

{Pithing Needle} and say one of them then they are useless
and  {Mikaeus, the Lunarch} has to tap every time he moves a +1/+1 counter on other creatures

All-Mana Mania

I never seen that combo, but I've seen the unallowed one and trislelion

Never saw this one. I don't get it.

Double-O-Scotch

{hermit Druid}, {helm of obedience}, {power artifact}, and {Necropotence}.
