{Crypt ghast} is a special type of ability that is associated with mana abilities. You can not copy it as it behaves more like a replacement effect instead of a trigger.

Yes copying damage with the doll is possible.

I remember reading that you could pick which one to cast with the {elite arcanist}. Same rules apply to {isocron scepter}. Edit: ok the above answer is true. You pay the sum of the costs to create copies of all exiled spells then choose if you want to cast those copies or not. You may cast both, one, or none but you have to pay for both either way.

Ghast is a static ability, while extort is a triggered ability.

Thank you +1

What makes {Crypt Ghast}'s second ability different?

It effects regualar mana production.

I was kinda hoping for a rule quotation. But I was inspired to go and find it. Here it is, for the curious.

Quote605.1b A triggered ability without a target that triggers from activating a mana ability and could put mana into a player's mana pool when it resolves is a mana ability.

605.4a A triggered mana ability doesn't go on the stack, so it can't be targeted, countered, or otherwise responded to. Rather, it resolves immediately after the mana ability that triggered it, without waiting for priority.

So that's why the Resonator doesn't work with Crypt Ghast.
