I love {Mana Tithe}. I think it is strictly better than {Force Spike} because no one expects a white counterspell.

Also, for those who are hatin on {deprive} it has its uses... You dont have any lands to play on your turn and your opponent casts an instant? {deprive} that instant and get a free untapped land! Hard counter for {U} all day.

Conditional but still, food for thought.
