Age old argument, I know. But honestly, I'm trying to get a feel for people's insights into this. I like Syncopate because it allows me to early on prevent silliness like {Vampire Nighthawk}s or {Oblivion Ring}s.

My bad.  Thanks for the card linkage.

Syncopate. You can cast it turn 2 if need be

Dudecore

{Syncopate} isn't good. If you're losing to early {Vampire Nighthawk} then you've gotta adjust something. Great counters are extinct.

And rightfully so, they make mtg less interactive and more about who reserves their spells till they're out of range.

I wish they would reprint  {Power Sink}... If they did, I may play blue again...

Silent1236

I personally would choose {Dissipate} over {Syncopate}.  Hard counters are better most of the time.

{Syncopate} is a functional reprint of  {Power Sink} except it exiles the spell.

If they can't pay syncopate they can still do stuff on the turn, not so with power sink

I respectfully disagree. Dropping creatures every turn and swinging is not strategy either. A nice balance of each would be nice. Aggro decks have it too easy currently.

I personally love {Syncopate}.  I played it in odysee, and I play it now.  It goes very good in my bant deck.  I'm usually ahead on mana anyways because of {Farseek}.  {Dissipate} is good also, but it can be harder to cast {1}{U}{U}, and harder to hide that you actually have a counter in hand.  On a side note.....I love, love, LOVE  {Dispel}ing eto  {Sphinx's Revelation}! :)

So I'm just gonna throw a suggestion, someone who loves counters throw together a mono blue counter deck for standard just to see how well it'd look in standard right now

{Counterspell}. Fairly costed at {U}{U}, you can only have 4. Stops everything.
