Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind; Tapping

On the card, it says: Tap: draw a card.
Does that mean when you tap niv-Mizzet to attack you also draw a card? Or does it have to be tapped separately?

Most likely if you activate an ability for a creature that requires it to T, you will not be able to attack with it that turn, unless it has vigilance and you are in your phase after combat.
