I know but what im talking about is death touch and trample and other static abilities. Since you cannot directly assign those creatures' damages, how would thy work?

Birdbrain

With death touch. It says ANY amount of damage causes the creature to die.

With trample, there is a rule that says each member is a separate entity. So only the tramplers damage would get through

MisterJH

But the trampler's damage is no longer the trampler's, it is the band's.

Birdbrain

To paraphrase the rules, "each creature is a separate entity"

From a top down perspective. Think of it like this. A band is riding on horseback full force at a creature. The first creature, (the trampler) hits the creature first. The rest of the creatures also hit the creature. Now, sense there on horseback. There speed has probably been slowed, so they don't do quite as much damage. The band had helped the trampler take out the creature. Think of the trampler as the leader continuing on to the player while the other creatures hold it back
