 {Deathrite Shaman} okay wait a minute 3 extremely powerful abilities for just 1 mana???  Do you guys know  {Tarmogoyf} was a $1 rare when it was printed and know its over $100 just imagine how much  {Deathrite Shaman} will be in 5 years if you want to like pick up a playset now and put it into a safe for a couple years because its $15 now and it sees play in every format even vintage this card will probably be $100 in a couple of years after RTR is done getting printed

But it's a /2 toughness.  Easier to kill {birds of paradise} or {noble hierarch}. And they don't gain you life OR deal damage to your opponent. I have to agree, deathrite shaman is golden.

Although not a huge limiting factor (especially in older formats with fetches), but requires a card to be in the graveyard

I don't see him as an absolutely amazing card in standard as a "mana dork," but still decent.  I think he shines in modern (don't really follow legacy, so I don't know about there) with fetch lands to add to the pile of goodness.
