{Grimgrin, Corpse-Born} is a more versatile Commander IMO. You gain access to counter magic, draw spells and a pretty mean zombie. Pumping him up and then slamming an {Essence Harvest} is wonderful. He is also good in a board sweep, just gobble up all the creatures that would die anyways.

I'd also include some things to protect your commander like {Darksteel Plate}, {Lightening Greaves} ect. Of course add tutors: {Demonic Tutor}, {Vampiric Tutor}
