So, if I understand correctly, opponents can't target planeswalkers directly with spells like {Searing Spear}.  They have to target the player, and then if the player does nothing, it can be redirected to the PW.  My question is this:  If I've got the Orb out, making me hexproof, can they still cast the Spear at my PW even though I can't be the target of the spell?  Thanks.

Because the spear has to target you before redirecting to the planeswalker, witchbane orb will stop it. You cannot be targeted, so the spear does not have a valid target to be cast.

It's different for a spell like {dreadbore} that targets the pw directly though without needing to target you first

Nope, all burn spells have to target to controlling player, then the damage is redirected. If you are hexproof, they cant burn your walkers. The opponent can still attack them or target them with nonburn spells and abilities ({bramble crush}, {oblivion ring}, {voilituon reins}, but not {goblin fireslinger} or {lightning bolt}). -

Hmm that's the first I've heard of the PW redirect. So who chooses the redirect? The caster or the target player?

Yeah, I know he'll still be susceptible to things like Bore and O-Ring.  Just wanted to make certain they couldn't get burn spells.  Thanks!
