Angelic Overseer, plz help!

Ok, so this just happened, I attacked someone who had a {Angelic Overseer} and a {Champion if the Parish} on the field. He blocked a 4/4 angel token with his overseer. Second main phase, I drew with think twice and was able to remove his champion, thus making the overseer no longer indestructible. Would the overseer die from the 4 damage that it was dealt? Because it doesn't heal until EOT, or would it survive because it was indestructible at the time if damage? We are both really confused on this ruling, please help!

It only dies if it has damage or does it just die?
