Returning to previous page

Ok, say I'm looking at my PMs and I just hit the home button on my iPod when I'm done.  Then, I come back, look at a thread, and tap the link to a card.  When I'm done, I'll hit the top left button to go back to the thread, but instead it will go to my PMs since it was open when I opened the app and I have to try to find the thread I was on.  Anything I can do to have it stop doing that?  Not major, just annoying.
