Yeah but aren't counters a form of damage like say an infect creature like {ichorclaw myr} dealing damage in -1/-1 counters?

but that's damage. counters done by infect is damage, counters unto themself however are just counters.

Infect reforms the way damage is delivered. The existance of infect and wither doesnt change how all the other counters out there behave. Now if {balefire dragon} had infect and sneezed on the board no counters would be placed because the counters are coming from a form of DAMAGE.

While we're still on the topic if there's a creature with protection from black like say {knight of infamy} does he live past a {black suns zenith}?

I think he dies in this scenario.  The counters are not damage.
