Damn, I forgot to put down {ancient grudge} ... I've placed in the top 3 twice when playing my land destruction deck and I've only played it twice ... I love watching guys get pissed off because they can't do anything.

Smelt is only 1 mana, grudge is 2. If the deck can't use the flashback, smelt is better. If it can, obviously you can more use out of grudge even if you pay more for the first cast, making it the better option. Or you can always run both

As for acidic slime...it's pretty good5 mana for a 2/2 seems a bit much, but it does 2-for-1 jobs usually. It's ETB destroys one troublesome land/chant/arti, and it will then either stop attacks against you for a while, trade with a bigger creature, or force your opponent to spend removal or a combat trick to get rid of it. Pretty good deal.

It could work, but I see the player getting screwed every once in while ecause they could get the coating out fast enough.
