Barter in blood

Ok gentlemen couldn't find a ruling so if I don't have any creatures and the other guy has two will {barter in blood} still go off. I think yes but want to make sure cause I am looking for easy removal in a low creature deck that I am trying to put together.  Thanks.

Like Falcon said, it's legal to cast it.  If a player has to sacrifice any number they must sacrifice as many as they have up to that number.

I wouldn't necessarily look at {Barter in Blood} as an easy removal spell, though. It can't activate till turn 4 at the soonest. The mana cost is less splashable than most. You will only kill their two worst creatures. By the time you cast it, it might not be particularly effective. If you're running a low amount of creatures, you might be reluctant to ever set it off, because I'd assume that the few creatures you run aren't just chump blockers...

I like B.I.B., but it doesn't fit in every deck, in my opinion. I like running it in a sac deck, thu profiting from the death of your own creatures.
