My thinking was that the trample had to do lethal damage to carry over to the player, leaving 1 damage to me, which would be prevented. But I suppose leathal damage only needs to be assigned, not delt. Correct, scarsabrex?

7 power of trample incoming from one attacker. 3 1 toughness blockers intercept. the trampler assigns 1 to each blocker and 4 to you. gisela halves that to 2 you take 2 damage. you probably have a better chance of surviving if the 7 was split among multiple attackers.

correct for the same reason you can trample over creatures with protection.
