{Sagu Mauler} and  {Sudden Death}

SM is morphed my opponent SDs can I I morph in response?

Oldschoolmtgnoob

Well if morph is considered activating an ability I don't think you can

Mr_Fahrenheit

Morph is considered a 'special ability' that doesn't use the stack. Unfortunately that is the extent of my expertise in the matter.

Thetrufflehunter

Morph is the fastest action in the game. You can flip a morph in response to a split second card, as it doesn't use the stack. Don't have the ruling, but yeah..

Fun fact: revealing a conspiracy is at about the same speed as a morph.

It doesn't use the stack but you are still activating an ability. Yet morph says at any time. However if one ability says yes and the other no, no always wins in magic

your not activating an ability. your taking a special action which is different in magic. split second prevents activating abilities like trying to use {nylea, god of the hunt}' s ability to buff a creature to save it from {sudden death}. split second still passes priority, and players may still still add mana to their mana pool (stupid {omnath, locus of mana}) and they can take special actions. please try to not correct people on rulings unless you are totally sure {{kaylesh}} and have a ruling to support.

edit: this is why {willbender} can still counter spells with split second.

ruling edit:
115.2b Turning a face-down creature face up is a special action. A player can take this action any time he or she has priority. See rule 707, "Face-Down Spells and Permanents."

115.3. If a player takes a special action, that player receives priority afterward.

just an important one for knowing you receive priority after unmorphing.

Remillo

The easiest way to explain it is this:  When you have a creature on the battlefield Face-down, it's being kept that way by an effect.  When you pay its Morph cost to turn it face up, you're simply paying to end the effect keeping it face-down.  No ability is being activated and the stack isn't being used.  You're just ending an on-going effect.  Because of the way that works, you can respond to split-second spells by turning a creature face-up.  And because of Split-Second's wording (only that players can't cast spells or activate non-mana abilities), you'll still get any resulting triggered abilities on the stack above the Split-Second spell.  In my {Ixidor, Reality Sculptor} deck, I've used this little trick to counter, copy or redirect cards like {Krosan Grip} (with {Voidmage Prodigy}, {Mischievous Quanar} and {Willbender}, respectively.)

Apologies. I was totally sure, but apparently wrong.
