Origin sucks?

So, I've been pampered by Steam for years and years, but I really wanted Mass Effect 3 on PC, and Origin just happened to be having a sale on it!  So, now I own ME3, but when I try to activate it, it says my activation key isn't right.  This has apparently been a problem on Origin for 2+ years.  Cool.  Glad my first Origin purchase is going over well.  Crappy software is crappy.
