So a friend of mine and his friends thought of a cool way to support the local shop. We all buy up a bunch of booster boxes once every couple weeks if we have the expendable income. Then we draft for hours, but with a twist, you can only draft the uncommons and commons. The rares get set aside to be sorted later. Once everyone has drafted from every box, we build 5 decks, now the second twist is once a card is played it is exiled and someone else can take said card and use it to augment one of their decks. The rares are sorted and the winner of 6 matches get 5 rares, the winner of 4 matches gets 3 rares, and everyone else gets one. Then with the remaining rares we give them to the shop to sell and build up their front case. Weve been doing this for a few months now and I gotta say, since we have started its been great to see the reactions on peoples faces, or watch some buy something we just gave them. Final few words are support your local shop in anyway you can, we do and it feels great.

We did something like that on a Sunday night once... We had three open booster boxes. Innistrad, m14, Theros. We decided to put all the boosters in a bag and then we each drew 3 at random. That was a very interesting day.

Another great way is to pay with cash. Buying with credit cards costs slightly more to the store owner, which is why most have minimum purchase req's for credit cards.

Also, if a store has boxes of C's, U's, or even 1$ rares, put them back in the correct place. Most owners will sort cards in those places until it becomes too much of a hassle. Plus, you'd find what you were looking for faster if they stay sorted.
