I've heard the term and gathered that it's a game type, but what is it?

It's a format which uses decks of exactly 100 cards and one of them is a "commander" which is separate from the deck and can be cast with out it being in ur hand. U also start with 40 life. Theres a few other things different, ur best off googling it :P
