Ok I have been trying to build another deck for quite awhile now. I seem to get close but either have too many cards or just get tired and do something else.

How long does it usually take you to build a deck. And any tips, ideas, or suggestions.

It takes me quite some time to build a deck. Tips? Umm, start with the cards that are essential, then exclude the ones that aren't really necessary, excessive! Then put in synergies and other essentials! I would recommend starting with a land base of 23, and adjust as needed! Mind you, all cards must be of the appropriate color(s)! 😌😜😝

I start with concept, make sure I have my essentials, then make a 20/20/20 lands/creatures/spells version of the deck and adjust as needed.

Never tried that, but it sounds much more effective than my method

Start with what you want the deck to accomplish. (Having fun? Winning a tourney? Pissing off your friends?) Decide what kind of deck it should be. (Mill? Burn? Creatures? etc.)

After that I search the database for any cards that go with the idea (no matter what color they are) and add the cool ones to the deck. Then I take a look and choose a color based on what cards I found. (except red. I don't play red hehe)

I then add the manabase. I think it is a good idea to add mana last because the mana should reflect your deck not the other way around.

Most likely after this process it will suck. Post it on the forums, get advice, and tweak it in your spare time. That's what I do anyways. :)

That is the exact method I recommend ©
