just want to confirm. if i already have {ephara, god of the polis} on the battlefield and i cast {akroan horse}, will i draw a card next upkeep. akroan horse etb'ed under my control and would trigger ephara, right?

Pi

I don't think so. The horse enters the battlefield under an opponent's control. The ability triggers when it enters the battlefield

You don't draw a card. Ephara states "If a creature entered under your control" and {Akroan Horse} comes into play under an opponent's control.

Are you talking about the soldier it gives you?
if he is, it does cause the abilit to trigger

no. i am talking about the horse itself.
edit:
isnt it a triggered ability.
like you cast {akroan horse}, then his when he etb trigger goes on the stack and an opponent gains control. then wouldn't it trigger ephara

abstractApathist

Ooh my bad I misread it. Sorry! Yes, you'll draw a card. +1 for careful reading

Lots of confusion. Let me clear up a few things.

"When" or "whenever" happen after entering play such is the case of {akroan horse}

"As" happens after resolving but before entering the battlefield such as with {clone}.

If two things check for triggers at the same time such as "beginning of upkeep" and one is necessary to trigger the other then the other will not trigger. For example if you have 2 life, {baleful force} and {near death experience} you will not win because both triggers check to see if they should happen at the same time so even though the resolution of one makes the other true by the time it resolves near death has already done it's check and said dont trigger.

but they don't say rye trigger at the same time. Ephera's trigger happens at the upkeep. You talking about them happening at the same time confuses me. By the way, run flash with ephera. She says "each upkeep"

^_^ it is the same thing with all other whenever's. the unleash does not say whenever so that means it enter already with the counters. Also the same with all the cards so far
