Building a Mono White deck and really want Ajani but don't know which one to choose.
{Ajani Goldmane} {Ajani, Caller of the Pride}

I'd say it depends on the kind of deck. What's the main focus of your deck? If you can describe it a bit, it will help people help you more easily.

Ah. Well it's mainly an enchantment deck. Using {Phalanx Leader} {Fencing Ace} {Hopeful Eidolon}
{Auramancer} and {Ordeal of Heliod}

I personally like Goldmane's -1 for that. Just buffing all your creatures every turn till he dies

Ok. That helps. Even though caller of the pride's ability can't trigger heroic (:() he can give big enchanted creatures flying and double strike (if they don't have that already). Also, he costs less mana and goes to 5 loyalty, so if you usually get creatures out fast, he's hard to kill. Just make sure to play something to stop board wipes like {supreme verdict}. I sideboard {rootborn defenses} in my mono white deck.

Goldmane is also good for soul sisters

Sounds like you are running a pretty cheap deck, mana-wise. With all those 1-3 drops in there, an exlensive commander woulsn't make much sense, especially one with slow abilities. {Ajani, Caller of the Pride} can get you the fast kills you want. He is explosive, and expendible. Look at it this way: Ajani Goldmane is a plainswalker that you need to keep around to make a difference. If all you do is use his minus ability once and then he dies, well congradulations you just casted a one-time-use {Gavony Township}. And the fact that he puts a counter on every creature is slightly irrelevant because you have an enchantment based deck. This means that you will hae at most 2 creatures out, while stacking enchantments on them and making them more powerful. The goal of your deck is to attack, not to protect a plainswalker so you can do what...gain life? No, your goal is to kill.

Caller of the Pride, on the other hand, is a true threat. He immediatly doubles the damage output of a creature, and gives it evasion. And if it has enchantments on it (which it should if that's the goal of the deck), it will be deadly. And the important part is, you don't need to protect him to make him worth the investment.

Here's an example. Let's say you cast both walkers, each one in a different game. Both die immediatly. What did you pay, and what did you get?

{Ajani Goldmane}:
Payed: 4 mana
Got: a counter on each creature (3 extra damage in at best)

{Ajani, Caller of the Pride}:
Payed: 3 mana
Got: double the damage done by a single source (3 extra damage, average).

If your goal is to hang back, watch your creatures grow, and overwhelm your opponent eventually, then Goldmane is the right choice. But if you are stacking enchantments on a single creature and trying to get through, Caller of the Pride is calling.

I did it for you.  When someone takes that kinda time they deserve it.

+1'd for +1ing my sadly nonexistent +1. =P
Also, I agree. Both posts I've seen from him tonight are extremely helpful and well thought out.
