Hey guys if my opponent 'devour flesh' me, and I have a barrage of expandables with two creatures on the battlefield, can I choose the creature i am about to sacrifice and in response deal damage? Or do i just gain the life? Also could someone pls tell me how to highlight words to show card names pls! ^_^ tks

Just use the curly brackets with the card names inside, and you're good to go!

Edit: Regarding the question, you either sac your creature to deal damage or sac your creature to {Devour Flesh} and gain life. Can't do both.

Once devouring flesh resolves, you have to sac a creature. Because you can't respond to anything while the spell is resolving, you can't then sac the same creature to pay another cost

What does Obzedat have to do with the situation?

Pleeb has it correct. You can either:
A) Allow {Devour flesh} to resolve in it's entirety.
Or
B} respond to the casting of devour flesh by doing something (ex bounce a creature out, sacrifice, etc) - afterwords, devour flesh will still resolve and you'll have to sacrifice a creature that you still have on the battlefield to it. Devour flesh does not target and cannot be "fizzled" by sacrificing what you intend to get rid of with it - you'll simply have to sacrifice something else when it resolves.
