What happens if...?

I'm playing a standard wall game with someone and I have {cavern of souls} out and declare sliver as the type. Then I use it to cast {battle sliver} and in response my opponent uses {render silent}. Since he can't be countered, it also says I can't play spells this turn. Does the {battle sliver} resolve?

Battle sliver resolves, but you can't cast any other spells that turn
