I play standard but will be quitting it for modern and EDH when Innastrad block cycles out, cos there will not be enough vampires left,

Everforward

I really enjoy standard format, it levels the playing field and allows for competition under restraint, it does bug some that every one is playing the top tier deck, but at the sane yime it is not imposible to build a competitive rouge deck, it is a lot  difficult to build them but it makes it that much more worth it to go to a tournament with something no one has ever seen before and win. (You can also build your side board to play off those decks better but keep main deck difficult for the top tiers to play)

What I like about standard: you can make a deck online, with the BEST cards available, and then buy exactly what you want for like 350 bucks. If I did that for modern or legacy, you are looking at a much higher price to get the best cards, from 500 dollar decks to vintage decks over a thousand.

T2 does cost a lot over time, but personally I think the experience is worth it. I like experimenting with the newest cheese!

love edh but {kaalia the vast} and {zur the enchanter} need to burn in a fiery pit.

QFT. Mostly everyone knows where I am with Standard. I loathe the format. Every 3 months Wizards decides what you can and cannot play. Aggro decks reign supreme, and while control decks exist (I play one), it is so difficult and costly to play that archtype that it unfun.

Legacy is ultimately the most fulfilling format, as I believe it has the greatest number of archtypes and different ways to play. One could say "well you'll just need to buy X, X, X and X card", those cards are good cards, and you'd see the same gains from purchasing them as you would every other format. I say, it's better to buy 1 {Force of Will} before you buy 2 {Huntmaster of the Fells}.

EDH is an absolute blast. The interactions are crazy, the way the game flows is fun. Certain cards do ruin things (like {Kaalia of the Vast}), but if you're playing with 4 people, she is a crappy 2/2.

Modern is a lost cause, it is 2x the cost of Standard and about 5x less fun.

When I play magic I like the challenge, I like the feeling of proving myself by winning with decks I've designed, and strategies I've employed. I don't like the idea of spending $400 every 3 months to do it. EDH has plenty of restrictions (being singleton, color identity, and 4 way structure). You still spend plenty to make a good deck, but you only need 1 copy and even that isn't nessicary. Plenty of people (including myself) have original dual lands, fetch lands, rediculous tutor cards and needless foils - and all those cards don't produce wins, it's a different game every single time.

I can't believe nobody else plays standard because that's what other people play?

It's more that newer players go to the simplest, easiest format- Standard. After a while (hopefully) they realize that its either too expensive or too restricted, and move on.

Standard is great for new players but once your good enough you should probably move on to modern or legacy

Except FNMs are always standard or draft.

Maybe now things might change that modern is a legit format, but I doubt it

Not in terms of Limited, I mean Constructed, sorry.

Moneekahh

I play limited but not standard constructed. I personally like modern format best and that is where I focus most of my mtg time and energy. I also love EDH and probably spend way too much money on it. Legacy is just straight up far too expensive for me.
