Notes:
Kaalia of the Vast is Commander.

xStrayKnightx

I was just wondering what you guys would think of this EDH deck I just built.

Would {Kaalia of the Vast} be recommended as the Commander of the deck, or would {Tariel, Reckoner of Souls} be better?

Rpbarber

I would stick with  {Kaalia of the Vast} but just know that  {Griselbrand} is band in commander.

xStrayKnightx

I just looked at Griselbrand's card sheet and it says its Commander legal. O.o

He's banned, happened only a month or so after Avacyn Restored came out. Check the sticky at the top of the forum for the current banned list - I personally make sure it stays up to date and current ;)

Okay, so I swapped {Griselbrand} out for {Bloodgift Demon}. Sound about right after that switch has been made? The deck worked really well before I turned it into an EDH deck, so I'm assuming it'll just work better now.

Rpbarber

Yes, looks like a great deck. Kaalia was my first commander deck and nobody really worries about you until Kaalia comes out then everyone comes after you. So be sure to have something to protect her. Bc you can't use to many counter spells.

Gorzo

{Lightning Greaves} are a must-add in my opinion for a Kaalia deck. She needs the protection with shroud pretty badly, and giving her haste for {0} allows you to start dumping demons, dragons, and angels onto the field without having to wait (and avoid her dying) for a turn.

{Whispersilk Cloak} is great too, substituting the free equip and haste with unblockable, so you can keep using her attack effect even if your opponents have flying or teach blockers ready.

{Kaalia of the Vast} will draw tons of hate, even before she hits the field. If your deck is built to win without her I would consider not running her or at least not as your commander. You could always run heavy recursion and tutor effects to nab her and still abuse her.

It also depends on your playgroup. If they don't tend to gang up on her  {Kaalia of the Vast} then go ahead and run her.

xStrayKnightx

She doesn't tend to bring any heat till she gets all my big bad boss creatures out, like my {Balefire Dragon}.

Haha, I hit all excited thinking you were actually using the Nephilim (eg {Witch-Maw Nephilim}) but you meant the meaning of the word. Very good!

Beast of a deck by the way!

xStrayKnightx

Yeah, I often confuse people with the deck title. I'm going with the Darksiders origin for Nephilim; one part Demon, one part Angel.
