Will it flip?

I faced someone recently who had a competitive Vintage deck. There were 5 of us playing and his first turn he played an Island, {Lotus Petal}, {Mox Opal}, and I think {Memnite}. Then, he cast {Erayo, Soratami Ascendant}, and flipped it.

Does Erayo flip if Erayo is the fourth spell cast? Or does it trigger only after it is on the field, THEN the fourth spell of the turn is cast?

In this situation it doesn't matter much because he could have re-ordered the spells he cast to make it work but I'm curious.

Yes it would work since its the fourth spell cast that turn... That kinda a crazy combo :\ I feel bad for u that u had to face it

No it wouldn't flip under those conditions, if erayo was the 4th spell cast then that means it wasn't on the battlefield but rater on the stack when it was cast. But again he could have reordered it.

No. It has to be in play in order to flip. The trigger is during the casting of the spell so if it is the spell being cast it cant flip because it hasnt resolved yet.

Alright, thanks guys. Yeah it was ridiculous to face. He ended up winning with a {Panoptic Mirror} and {Time Warp} combo after we all ganged up on him to get rid of the Erayo enchantment. He has an Alpha {Time Walk} in that deck O.o

His nickname in my playgroup is Moneybags because his decks have so many insane money cards in them.

It's fun to face him because it's always a challenge, but it's almost like watching Goku turn Super Saiyan for the first time... And then you realize you're Frieza...

He may have, but I couldn't remember and I was curious about it so I thought I'd ask to be sure.
