Mmmmm, I don't think it goes infinite, since you need {R} for the ability, but the echoes gives you {1}.  You'll need a third card as a filter for it: {Mycosynth Lattice}, {Skyshroud Elf} something along those lines.

I think I'll put this in my Animar EDH. I need moar combos. And it would be a good way to stack counters on Animar with whatever red mana I have in play.
