So {fling} and {kiln fiend}. If I {fling} a {kiln fiend}, does it get bigger from its own ability or no? It buffs whenever an instant or sorcery is cast by me. +3/+0 for each.

Yes. When you cast an instant or sorcery the fiends ability will trigger, and be placed on the stack on top of the instant or sorcery. It will resolve before the instant or sorcery (Fling). Thus, when fling resolves it will see the current power of the fiend.

BlackJester

No it doesn't, sadly.

This timing of the whole thing is that you announce the spell, pay the costs (which includes sac'ing the fiend), and putting the spell on the stack.  By that time, which is when the fiend would trigger, it's already pushin' up daisies.

Cindjor

Thanks BJ. Just making sure because I just added kiln fiend to my legacy red burn deck and it would make me win even faster but I just wanted to double check.

🔨 resolved! Lol

Damn it BJ! You ruin my moment! JKJK

Once again I didn't read the cards entirety. BJ is correct. But, for other spells and stuff like say something that doubled the power of your creature or something, you would cast that spell, the fiend would trigger and resolve before the other spell resolves.

Works with {essance harvest}

On this similar topic, if you cast {Rush of Blood}, the fiend's trigger will go on top and resolve before the doubling effect, making it a 8/2.

Cindjor

Cool. And I did ask this in combo but I couldn't find the thread I asked it in so I just decided to ask in rules since it wasn't really a combo question. Lol my bad

That's the card! I couldn't think of the name!
