Well that's that then.

For posterity, be it known that iMtG version 4.6.2's database access ends at Kaladesh and will not see Aether Revolt.

I didn't know such a thing existed. But I found it and it is on its way to you now.

If it is not a "failure" as such, it is a message that the Database is up to date (the same message one might expect if there were simply no more updates available), I don't know that a support e-mail or device log would come forth from that?

When Safari or this app crashes back to the home screen (for example, but not this example), I do know where to look up incident logs for that. Says I have not have an iMtG crash since 2013-10-05, which sounds accurate.

After that, this would apply:

116.3b: The active player receives priority after a spell or ability (other than a mana ability) resolves.

You get the opportunity to begin a new stack, or pass. If you pass, the opponent even gets an opportunity to begin a stack while still in the end step. The game doesn't move to cleanup until both of you pass "in succession":

116.4.: If all players pass in succession (that is, if all players pass without taking any actions in between passing), the spell or ability on top of the stack resolves or, if the stack is empty, the phase or step ends.

Updating on topic for posterity
iMtG 4.6.2/iOS 6 has accepted no database updates after 174, which was Kaladesh, updates now numbering to 187

It takes a first step, of telling me the update will reset all prices. Then it tells me I am already  up to date. (and resets no prices). Remains at 174.

Doesn't work with 4.6.2.
4.6.2 has rejected everything after 174 - Kaladesh, including this one 181 and 182 also.
Not testing = not supporting?

This is appreciated; I for one am trapped at iMtG 4.6.2 by iOS 6, if you're counting.
I am also currently trapped at database 174 with 178 (inventions?) and 179 (rules?) unavailable. No hurry if retro support is still planned for later.

Those three are in the Welcome Deck 2016 "set". This "set" of 16 cards is indeed standard legal, Wizards' own Gatherer will confirm this.

The "W16" cards are found in the Shadows over Innistrad Booster Battle Packs, the free giveaway sample decks, and probably in 2016 Deckbuilder Toolkit boxes also. They will remain standard legal for as long as Shadows over Innistrad is legal, by that time there will be a Welcome Set 2017 in which some or most of these cards will appear again and remain in standard. Just watch the Gatherer for any doubts.

I have identical to Barador's issue.
iMtG 4.6.2 unable to update the database beyond revision 161, using iOS 6.1.6 on an iPhone 2 (2009).
It goes through all the updating motions, but when "finished" the pop-up prompt reappears to say there is an update available. It creates an endless loop until I answer "Later" to the prompt, and then I see I am still at 161.

Now I am wondering if it is the case that {Brain in a Jar} can do it but {Panoptic Mirror} can not.

Because Brain in a Jar can cast the fused spell from hand, but Panoptic Mirror would cast it from exile. And Fuse has to be from hand only?

i withdrew my comment based on Llama's subsequent comment.

the answer to the original question is still up for answer. Llama is saying Nah to me not to the original poster.

Discussion / Re: A little research project

I do a project very similar to yours! I build pairs of decks at random (sets of 16 actually) and tournament them against each other. I like how you call it research and especially that phrase Epitaph of Geekiness. You might mean Epitome not epitaph, unless it kills you, then it can be epitaph, but epically clever either way.

But I have never done Cockatrice and I had no idea that one person could play two decks against each other on one computer. MTGO doesn't have that, does it? I am definitely going to have to check this out for my own epiphany of geekiness solitaire project. I have only done mine with paper and proxies. Thank You! ASM

In your picture it looks like The Rack is Revised because the outer border looks like the unbeveled, simple single line black edge. Only Revised had that. Compare to the other card on the picture, Evacuation that appears to have the bevel (the double line that gives the illusion of a 3-D picture frame)
