Discussion / Re: How Sleeved is too sleeved?

For the love of God, don't do this to a {battle of wits} deck

A combo is when you use two cards in the way they were not intended to be used with. This is how twinning glass was supposed to be used.

I'm sorry, but what makes this the only definition of a combo?

The 4 damage will take effect? Is there anyway spellskite stop me doing this?
Not with spellskite, it will need another legal target if you can redirect it with another spell. Legal targets for the 4 damage will only be a player.

No, by the time the spellskite can change its target (once its on the stack and priority is passed) the mode of the spell is already selected.

I don't know guys the wording is janky you control the walkers on there turn in which you haven't used any loyalty abilities and chain veil allows you to

It's not janky, it just may not be as specific as you would like. Playing magic has an implied understanding that you understand the rules, basic timing and the stack.

The post right above yours has the rules for you. The timing is explicitly stated in there. Activating the veil on someone else's turn will not override this.

I was thinking more along the lines of if a spell like  {Cower in Fear} as an alternative. Or  {Doomwake Giant} etc.

Interesting question, what creature type are they? For instance if they had a  {Coat of Arms} out too.

Discussion / Re: Best financial options?

The best financial decision would be use a deck you borrow from a friend and pay an entry fee if you need to.
Cards are expensive and will most likely never get your money back in return. If you are concerned about money then mtg is really not a game I would recommend buying into.

Meh, bring him out turn 4 :)
{Sylvan Caryatid} into  {Crypt Ghast} for turn 3

I'll be retweaking my BWU deck into a BWG.
Liliana of the land finding is great :)

I think I'd rather sac 6 of my infinite 1/1 defenders and keep the unblockable hydra. But maybe that's just me...

 {Blackmail},  {Despise},  maybe?
{Haunting Echoes} just to be nasty?
Removal could be  {Damnation} and  {Mutilate}

I guess if you want to run the tokens maybe consider  {Devouring Greed} as a finisher?

Here's the ruling

1/22/2011   All the copies are created on the stack, so none of them are cast. Abilities that trigger when a player casts a spell won't trigger. The copies will then resolve as normal, after players get a chance to cast spells and activate abilities.

Maybe consider  {Archmage Ascension} if you have some card draw each turn. (Maybe from  {Staff of Nin}?)

You could always use three of the new O-Rings and make the infinite loops for invite triggers. In Which case you're going to want a {Grim Guardian} and that enchantment fetch card.

i thought {banishing light} was a version of o-ring that didnt do the infinite loop
Unless you are playing a 3 player game, all playing the card and the first thing (and only other thing on the board) that was exiled was a token.

So yes it's a lot harder, but it could still happen.
