My friend is using warden of the watch. When he's defending, it's a 3/2 gargoyle artifact creature with flying. If he blocks a 4/4 with it, does the artifact go to the graveyard?

Alright thanks! Does that mean that "counter target spell" can counter someone from putting a creature out?

So a werewolf transforms only if a spell is not cast the turn before. Does this include creatures as spells?
