Rules / Re: River's Grasp vs Izzet Staticaster
March 21, 2016, 01:44:12 PM
So, if I understand correctly, the {Izzet Staticaster} can't be targeted by the discard effect since it is on the battlefield when the {River's Grasp} has to choose targets for each effect.

Rules / River's Grasp vs Izzet Staticaster
March 21, 2016, 12:35:17 PM
Situation: Player A has {Izzet Staticaster} on the battlefield.

Player B casts {River's Grasp} and fulfills both mana conditions on the card (bounce and discard). {Izzet Staticaster} is targeted for the bounce effect.

Player A: taps the {Izzet Staticaster} in response deals 1 point of damage to a creature and kills it. Then returns the {Izzet Staticaster} to his hand.

At this point, Player A casts {Izzet Staticaster}, returning it to the Battlefield, before the discard effect resolves.

Is what Player A did legal? How should this have resolved?

Are the 2 effects of {River's Grasp} placed on the stack separately or do they occupy the same slot thus resolving at the same time?

Do the 2 effects have to resolve in the order as they appear on {River's Grasp}?

Rules / Crumble to Dust v Ghost Quarter
February 01, 2016, 01:12:11 PM
Situation:
Player A has an untapped {Ghost Quarter} on the battlefield

It is Player B's turn

Player B plays {Crumble to Dust} targeting Player A's {Ghost Quarter}

Player A responds by activating {Ghost Quarter}'s land destroy ability and targets one of Player B's non basic lands

How does this resolve?

Thanks for the suggestions. Based on how I've seen this deck operate, I have to disrupt him on turn 1 or 2 or just watch the combo do its thing.

i wish I had a {Bribery} to put in.

I prefer {Confiscate} as I have stolen Planeswalkers just before they pull off their ultimate and use it against the opponent.

Thanks for the input, any suggestions on trimming the amount of cards down to get closer to 60 cards total

Rules / Re: Resolute Archangel vs Ajani's Pridemate
December 19, 2014, 02:58:17 PM
👍 Thanks

I'm showing my age on this one, {Prodigal Sorcerer} has a nick name of "Tim" thus any creature with a similar ability is referred to as a "Timmer"

I understand the answers to my first question, Kaylesh.

I'm just having difficulty comprehending why specifically "combat damage" from a creature with the "lifelink" ability is the 1 and only exception to {Rain of Gore}.

The way that the ruling is worded indicates to me that a "Timmer" with lifelink would still trigger {Rain of Gore}.

Thanks but things brings up another question involving {Rain of Gore} and lifelink.

Why is combat damage by a creature with lifelink an exception to {Rain of Gore}?

Rules / Resolute Archangel vs Ajani's Pridemate
December 19, 2014, 12:46:22 PM
Situation:
I was playing Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015.

I had {Ajani's Pridemate} on the battlefield. My health was 12. I played {Resolute Archangel} my life went to 20 and {Ajani's Pridemate}'s ability triggered.

My question is should {Ajani's Pridemate}'s ability be triggered by the resolution of {Resolute Archangel}'s triggered ability or is this a glitch?

If it is not a glitch, how would {Resolute Archangel}'s ability interact with {Rain of Gore} or something similar?

Rules / Redirect vs Dismiss
December 05, 2014, 12:22:42 PM
Situation: Player A casts {Paralyzing Grasp} on Player B's {Guile}

Player B responds with {Dismiss}

Player A responds with {Redirect} having {Dismiss} target itself

{Guile}'s ability triggers exiling {Dismiss}

A couple questions:
1. Since {Dismiss} countered itself, does Player B draw a card?
2. Can Player B cast {Dismiss} from exile to target Player A's {Paralyzing Grasp} which is still unresolved on the stack?

Rules / rusted relic vs scythe of the wretched
December 01, 2014, 08:55:06 PM
Situation:

Player A attacks with a {Rhox Pikemaster} equipped with a {Scythe of the Wretched} and a {Mask of Avacyn}

Player B blocks with a {Rusted Relic}

The question is: Does the {Rusted Relic} return to the battlefield after it dies?

I think 510.1 is even more relevant
