Against G/W (my deck), Turn 4 your opponent has a 4/4 and a 2/1 ready to swing at you. Instead they come at Jace after his +1 and it does not kill him. That just saved you 6+ life, gained you two turns and with Tamiyo Coming out next turn, Jace and she can survive the next turn and draw you 3+ cards. It could go worse but you should have some counters early and board wipes late to stabilize.

What do you think? Going mono White with cheap casting costs, a little card draw, and strong enchantments.

Can you explain to me what the evolving wilds are in for? I can't see any landfall, or second colours? and don't they just make your deck slower? (not being smart, just wondering)
I would guess they thin the dek off. When you play it you spend 2 lands, making you less likely to draw another one. It is quite worthy on some mid-game decks

And to confuse the hell out of your opponent.

I don't see this deck getting to many five drops though.

The creatures are exalted, the unblockable are not. It works. You need a way to have you chumpblocker/exalted fellas survive.

Thanks everybody. I can't say I'm concerned about the change. The truth is I find it very interesting. As much as I like playing at my local shops, I also enjoy showing up to just observe the changes and strategies everyone makes.

Cheers.

Depending on how much card draw draw gets released and is usable in the deck, {Runechanters Pike} might not be powerful enough.

Standard / Standard Cycling?
September 13, 2012, 02:00:48 PM
How do you handle cycling out a years worth of cards removed of you Standard Deck(s)?

Is this a difficult and expensive endeavor? Or do you find it an exciting opportunity for trades and upgrades?

How drastically does the play at your local shop(s) change? Is the balance of power shifted at all, while players test lots of new decks? Or do the best players and/or shop employees stay right at the top of the competition?

I started playing with Scars and have enjoyed new sets coming out. So other than losing M11 cards, I haven't experienced losing half my options, while gaining new ones before. The process seems phenomenal to me, in theory.

4 x {Overgrown Tomb}*
4 x {woodland cemetery}
2 x {grim backwoods}
8 x {swamp}
5 x {forest}

4 x {rancor}
2 x {Slither Head}*
4 x {gravecrawler}
4 x {diregraf ghoul}
3 x {butcher ghoul}
4 x {Lotleth Troll}*
3 x {Grisly Salvage}*
3 x {Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord}*
3 x {geralf's messenger}
3 x {Jarad's Orders}*
2 x {mikaeus, the unhollowed}
2 x {killing wave}

SB - 3 x {highborn ghoul}
3 x {Abrupt Decay}*
3 x {Dryad Militant}*
2 x {rise from the grave}
2 x {sever the bloodline}
2 x {zombie apocalypse}

I proxied and tested this last night. It is fun, so far grisly salvage and jarads orders are the most important cards in the deck.

Can't wait to see what else G/B has to offer. Of course {Vraska, the Unseen} has to be squeezed in this deck.
