Not sure if this was asked but can his ability  be used in modern with infect?

If Breaker of armies is destroyed because of blocking creatures what happens to remainder of creatures who are suppose to block Breaker of Armies? Can they be assigned to block another creature attacking since the effect is over? Or are they done because the block was declared?
