I never meant to come across as it being rare to happen. I was just saying that there normally isn't a good backup if your {Cloudstone Curio} gets {Surgical Extraction}ed or simply countered. It relying on a very easy to remove card or some 0/1's makes it fragile. I've played it enough to get T2 wins and such, but also know its weaknesses.

I will say, playing it in a primarily blue shell isn't a bad idea. Use {Trinket Mage} to get the {Altar of the Brood}, use some draw, and throw in some counters and you shouldn't really need to throw in red. Could work real well with just blue and an {Isochron Scepter} for the {Grapeshot} maybe? I guess that's a little risky. Maybe keep the red in.

You are 100% correct, his deck has also tutors like  {Demonic Tutor} to search all his combo pieces, he does lose to cards like  {Golgari Charm} and surgical, after that is gg

{jace Beleren} seems bad

Jace beleren is decent,  {Alpha Tyrranax} seems bad :) STOP THE HATE ON JACE :(

Btw the deck is already good, I just think that those type of cards are fun to play, but definetly are not good in competitive matches, if I was playing against a couple friends of mine I would use  {Gilder Bairn} or  {Contagion Clasp} just for fun. :)

The problem with that is that he lacks a way to tap it outside of attack which makes it much worse

I bet  {Goblin Piledriver} isn't modern legal... What about  {Krenko, Mob Boss} or  {Hordeling Outburst}?

Piledriver was just confirmed for reprint in origins.

As for instigator, I tried it but I found it to be underwhelming. We're casting most of our stuff anyways, it's good with rabble or warchief but that's it.

I have a friend who uses this op deck  {Kobolds of Kher Keep}+ {Cloudstone Curio}+ {Grapeshot}/ {Tendrils of Agony}
His deck has a ton of card draw and effects like "damage can't be prevented" and also has all the 12 kobolds in mtg

Mmmmhhh I'm fine replacing courage, but I really don't want to use 3 copies of conc when I can play all of them really easily, I may get rid off 1 Aura finesse instead, but still I think they're both better than  {Favor of the Overbeing} but that's just my personal opinion, to me it doesn't make a lot of difference anyways :)
